Should
It's so sunny today, what should you be doing?
What could you be doing?
What would you be doing... if only?**
... *should*, we say? 🚩
hmm... I offer you a red flag 🤗 with kindness.
The power of *should* is so often debilitating, it can signal the ways in which we shame ourselves, beat ourselves up, it can mask assumptions and outdated beliefs too.
When I hear the word *should* from a client, a collaborator, a friend even, or of course myself, it's like a bell rings to alert me to a more useful conversational path being ignored. 🌱
My offer to you today is notice when *should* shows up, and use it as a sign to ask a different question, explore a new idea, challenge an assumption 🤗
... and my answers to those questions **
🌱I should be doing my work - and I am, with a few sunshine breaks
🌱I could have cancelled it all to go to the beach, but hey, I have things I want to get on with
🌱I would be ... planning for space to make good choices this summer - wishing the same for you 💚
